The Greek island of Santorini is a photographer’s and Instagramer’s Mecca.
Before the volcanic eruption, Santorini was home to the Minoans. Most Cycladic settlements were very small, remaining largely self sufficient and trading where possible with the Minoans. We recommend that history buffs visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri while on this Greek island. Akrotiriwas covered, much like Pompeii, in a thick layer of ash from the volcanic eruption. The site therefore is very well preserved.

Santorini was once a round-shaped island and known as ‘Stroggyli’. Due to one of the largest volcanic eruptions ever recorded in history, Santorini is now a half-moon crescent.
The red beach is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches of Santorini, with its unique landscape of red and black volcanic rocks. Snorkeling is highly recommended due to the interesting rocks. While here, you can also you can visit the ancient site of Akrotiri.
Due to its dry terrain, Santorini offers wines which are like no other. You’ll either love them or hate them. 80% of production is white wine – however don’t miss the opportunity to give the sweet vinsanto a try in one of the numerous wineries while on your trip to Greece.
Oia is one of the most beautiful villages of the Cycladic Greek islands. Visit it during the day and enjoy it – be warned it is the place the tourist flock to after 6pm, for that sunset photo. You are bound to see a fair few loved-up couples pop the question here!
Santorini offers an envious variety of good restaurants especially outside of Fira, however Metaksy Mas is the stand out. It can be found seemingly in the middle of nowhere but with a renowned view over Eksw Gwnia it offers a variety of plates with a cretan twist and interesting fresh combinations.
The walk from Fira to Oia is probably one the most iconic 2 hour walk anyone can do. Make sure to stop at Skaros Rock for some absolutely epic pictures! You can finish it off with an ice cold beer on Oia’s cliff side.
Τhe small village of Kamari is the best option for the whole family. Great spaces, family restaurants with probably the friendliest prices on the island and a new windsurfing school called ‘Nemeli’. In Kamari, combine sea, pools, beach bars, comfort food and good hotels.
PKs has been voted best bar in the world for two consecutive years and with very good reason.. Right in the middle of the caldera, it offers a fantastic view and even better cocktails. Make sure you head all the way down the stairs.
A caldera boat trip one of the best value-for-money experiences you can have on Santorini.
